Dorothy J. Gambsky, 86, of Volcano died Aug. 15 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Mountain View, she was housewife and a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View. Friends may call Monday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Visitation from 9-10 a.m.; funeral services at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial to follow at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1. Survived by sons, Joseph C. (Barbara J.) Gambsky and Demetri P. Helen Cabasal Garcia, 73, of Kailua-Kona died Saturday at the Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Isabela, Philippines, she was an associate at Walmart in Kailua-Kona. Friends may call at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Holualoa for a 2 p.m. funeral service. Casual attire; flowers accepted. Survived by husband, Jose Garcia Sr., of Kailua-Kona; sons, Joel (Louisa) Garcia and Jose (Haidi) Garcia Jr., both of the Philippines, and Jerry Garcia of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Loren (Abdon) De La Cruz of Miami, Miriam Galang and Marie Jean Labayane of the Philippines; brothers, Dominador (Belen) Cabasal, Lope (Panching) Cabasal, both of the Philippines, and Manolo (Mary) Cabasal of Abilene, Texas; sisters, Nellie Malana and Roseann (Fratz) Gaffud of the Philippines and Virginia (Jacques) Gervis of Rhode Island; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty Beatriz Cruz Jumalon, 80, of Keaau, died Aug. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Manila, Philippines, she was a retired room service inspector for the Cedar Sinai Medical Center in California and a homemaker and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Friends may call Tuesday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Visitation from 8-10 a.m.; Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers accepted. John Richard Ruggiero, 76, of Hilo died Sunday at his home. Born in Boston, he was a retired mailman for the U.S. Postal Service and served as a staff sergeant for the Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. Celebration of Life from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Hospice of Hilo Chapel, 1011 Waianuenue Ave. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Nancy (Louis) March and Suzanne Ruggiero, both of Hilo; son, John Ruggiero of Boston; sisters, Carolynn (Jim) Young and Cathy Ruggiero, both of Cape Cod, Mass.; brother, Robert (Gayle) Ruggiero of Wareham, Mass.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Hugh Hazard Willocks, 72, of Hilo died Sept. 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was chairman of the board of Willocks Construction Corp., a U.S. Army first lieutenant in the Vietnam War, former president and member of the Hawaii Island Contractors Association, and member of the National Rifle Association and the Republican Party. Celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Hilo Yacht Club. Aloha attire. Survived by daughters, Kehu (Duke) Huihui of Keaau and Mamo (Feliz) Pada of Honolulu; sons, Sam Willocks and Michael Willocks, both of California, and Paul (Lindsay) Willocks of Washington; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
